ISDN Star
ISDN Star
Product description
By using the ISDN Star 1/4, it is possible to integrate the ISDN-S0-Bus
into a physical star topology such as Twisted Pair Ethernet. This offers
the user significant cost savings, particularly in the case of small
networks, since only one cable system is required. The ISDN Star 1/4 is
connected directly via patch cable or IDC block to the NTBA (Network
Termination Basic Access). 100 Ω terminators are already installed in
the star point of the device. The ISDN Star 1/4 is equipped with four
ports for connecting either via IDCs, wiring cables and outlets, or by
using patch cables and patch panels. Cat. 5e outlets can be used for
telephone wall sockets. There is no need to fit these with terminators.
The length of cable per bus is 100 m - including the wiring to the NTBA.
This conforms to the maximum cable length permitted in a universal
structured cabling system. If Cat. 5 cable is used, the total length of
all the bus wiring must not exceed 400 m; when using category 3 cable a
maximum of 300 m is permitted. In total, up to 12 wall outlets and
maximum 8 terminals may be connected. The ISDN Star 1/4 is available
either in a smart plastic housing as a desktop device, or in a metal
panel type housing size 3 HU/8 PU for 19" rack-mount.
